Our editorial standards

These are the rules every Mizuki page follows. If you ever find a page that breaks them, please tell us.

Last updated

Independence

  • Brands and retailers cannot pay to be included, ranked, reviewed or compared.
  • We don't publish sponsored content as editorial. If we ever run a sponsored post, it will be labelled "Sponsored" at the top.
  • Affiliate commissions never decide what we recommend. We list retailers in our price tables whether or not they pay us, sorted by price.
  • If we receive a free product sample, we say so on the page that mentions it.

Research and accuracy

  • We read each product's full ingredient list and the brand's own claims, and check claims about ingredients against published research or recognised reference sources where they exist.
  • We avoid medical claims. Skincare can't cure conditions, and we don't say it does. When a topic needs a professional, we say so.
  • Every article opens with a short, direct answer, then explains the reasoning behind it.
  • Prices always show the retailer, the amount in Canadian dollars and the date they were checked. See the Price Index methodology.

Sunscreen and Canadian rules

In Canada, sunscreens are regulated as non-prescription drugs or natural health products. When we write about a sunscreen, we remind readers to look for a Drug Identification Number (DIN) or Natural Product Number (NPN) on the label. Mizuki doesn't sell sunscreens. See our sunscreen hub.

Updates

Every article shows a "Last updated" date. We review pages when formulas, prices or availability change, and at least once a year. Small fixes (typos, broken links) don't change the date; material changes do.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and, for material errors, add a note at the end of the article explaining what changed and when. Report an error through our contact page.
